To CHRISTIANS: You’re currently not helping

Hello friends! (I have not written a post for a while but here I am again.)

This morning I was praying for our nation, praying for President Trump, praying for all of those affected by Harvey, Irma, and Maria, praying for those affected by the wildfires, praying for my friends and family, etc.

There is so much to pray for it sometimes seems overwhelming. Natural disasters, sickness, death, division, terrorist attacks, and other things can seem like so much. Sometimes it is hard to see the hope, “…but God!” In the midst of all the yuck there are so many testimonies of God intervening — just not always how we want Him to.

In view of all of this, I feel compelled to call out the Christians. Yep, that is what I said. (If you are not a Christian and want to be, contact me and I would love to chat! You may continue reading but this particular post is for Christians.)

My brothers and sisters, we are not doing our job!

Posting our opinions or complaints on social media is not the same as standing in the gap for our nation, nor does it take the place of really speaking out on injustice. Sure, we can post our feelings but what are we accomplishing? Are we sharing the Father’s heart by giving our opinion on the issue? Are we spending more time arguing on Facebook then we are on our faces before the Father? 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If My people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray…” it does not say if my people are loud enough on social media, it does not say if the lost people would stop doing bad things, it does not say if we share our feelings enough.

Now, hear me when I say, this scripture is God’s response to a question. This scripture is not a formula for perfect living, it is not saying that if we humble ourselves and pray that bad things won’t happen. However, I do know that our nation needs healing. There is a massive division of races, cultures, religions, etc. I have seen so many posts just this week and no one is listening to the other side. Each side is arguing and I’m not talking about the world, I am talking about Christians. The only way this nation will be healed is if we stop arguing our side and start praying.

God’s voice needs to be the loudest, not our opinion.

There is a lot of hurt in our nation, there are a lot of mistakes that have been done in our history and in our present. We can not allow our perspective to be the Gospel we preach, no matter what we feel. Is President Trump perfect? Of course not! But are you spending more time bashing and complaining than you are praying? If so, that needs to change. Do we need to remain silent in the midst of all this? No way! But if you are doing more talking than listening and praying than it needs to change. All sides are wrong if all they seek to do is to prove their point.

The fact of the matter is there are viewpoints in this nation that have to change. There is racism on all sides of the fence. There are right perspectives on all sides of the fence. There are wrong perspectives on all sides of the fence. You see, as a white person it is difficult to understand a black, hispanic, arabic, etc person if all I do is try and prove my point. But, when I pray and when I listen I can begin to see the hurt, I can begin to see their point of view.

The truth is, I will never fully understand what it is like to be anything other than a white female, but I can do my best to see. I can pray and ask the Father to help me see the situation through His eyes and He has the clearest picture of everything. We may not be able to heal our nation, but He can.

To us it can seem a daunting task but I know that the God I serve is the God of the impossible. He is the victorious King, and I know that unity is important to Him. I know that every single person on this planet is loved so fiercely by Him, and that He is pursuing every single one of us with His steadfast love. We are His ambassadors, our job is to represent the interests of a perfect King who has a perfect Kingdom. We are to pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

So, my question to you is how are you doing with that mandate?

Do you walk around representing the King of Kings? Does your speech reflect this high calling? Do your posts on social media serve this purpose? IF we are only arguing our own viewpoint and our own opinions then we are not doing our job.

It is time for the people of God to humble ourselves and pray and to take up the God given mandate to be His ambassadors!

The rest of the 2 Chronicles 7:14 is so encouraging to me and it should be to you as we seek to do what He has called us! “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” The healing this country needs is from God, let’s do our part and seek our King for our nation! Let’s turn from our wicked ways and seek His face and make room for our King to move in this nation.
